Organization and Planning: Is it Important?
January 19, 2009 – 11:54 pmIf you’re always forgeting to plan and organize yourself, you will fail yourself and the project. Every stage of the project requires planning until you are closing it. Whether you are planning to assess perceived risks to the various project phases and deilverables or planning your schedule, you have to pay a good amount of attention to it. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. This is a common statement that project managers wish was not commonly used because it makes the rest of us look bad.
Secondly, organize yourself. Its not that difficult with the tools that are around you these days, you have to start getting creative. Create a method that works for you and include that as your style of being a manager. Its not written in stone that you have to manage a project by XXY method and thats the only way you can do it. That goes for your planning too. As long as you are taking into account the bases of the project management discipline and applying it rather then being ignorant about its existence, you will be alright.
